Income protection insurance
In order to receive compensation for involuntary unemployment, the other conditions of the insurance cover must also be met. The conditions can be found at Bliwa’s website (Swedish) as Bliwa is the provider of the income insurance.
How the compensation is calculated
Income insurance insures the part of your monthly income that exceeds the compensation ceiling in the unemployment fund. The compensation from the income insurance is based on the unemployment fund's decision regarding compensation-based income, compensation level and compensation period. The total compensation including unemployment fund, any severance pay from security agreements and income insurance, is calculated at up to 80 percent of your average monthly income before tax in the last 12 months.
If you have variable salary components, such as bonuses, you can contact the unemployment fund to find out whether they are included in your compensation-based income.
Your membership period in the unemployment fund affects the compensation level. It can amount to 50 percent, 60 percent or 80 percent of the established compensation-based income. The longer you have been a member of the unemployment fund, the higher the compensation level.
The length of the compensation period you are granted by the unemployment insurance fund is based on the number of months of income in the last 12 months. The compensation days can be 100, 200 or 300 days.
